I have always been a very insecure person. As a child, a teenager, a young adult, and now as a mom.
Whether it be feeling insecure as a person, feeling inadequate as a mom, or feeling bothersome as a friend, I struggle. Hard.
I struggle in feeling judged by others, for parenting choices, how I look, how I am portrayed, even if that may not be the case and has not even crossed their mind.
I struggle in not feeling good enough. This dates back to my childhood, but I am definitely one of the moms that envy others. I envy their perfect Pinterest crafts and meals, their perfect marriages, their perfect relationships with their kids, and their confidence.
I struggle in feeling bothersome to others. This is probably my biggest insecurity. I fear I am “too much”. Too loud, too obnoxious, too weird, too imperfect. But, I know this is just the devil trying to bring me down and make me feel worthless, when the Lord shows me that I am of more value than many sparrows. (Luke: 12:7) If God remembers the sparrows, He will not forget me! Jesus assured every believer that their life was precious and remembered before God.
I’m sure many of us have struggled with insecurity. It can cripple us- in our Faith, friendships, our work, and our marriages. What insecurity comes down to is this: you’re either choosing to believe what is true, or you’re choosing to believe what is false. What is true comes from God, and what is not comes from the enemy.
If you struggle with insecurity as well, I encourage you to take these verses, pray, write, and meditate them. Put them in your heart for when you are weak and need to be lifted up.
2 Timothy 1:7
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through him who strengthens me. (ESV)
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!
1 John 3:1
See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.
Friends, when you’re feeling insecure, insignificant, or not good enough- lean into God and His truth and know that He has made you in His image! Take comfort in your Faith and know that God truly loves you. He has made you to be the Mom, Wife, Friend, and Child of God that you are!
